RECONNECTING KIDS TO NATURE THROUGH STEAM
TUESDAY, NOV. 12, 2024 | 6-8 P.M.
Join us for an empowering evening celebrating women in STEAM (science, technology, engineering, arts and math) at the Chesapeake Bay Foundation’s Brock Environmental Center in Virginia Beach.
We are honored to have Sapana Lohani, a geospatial data scientist at William & Mary’s Institute for Integrative Conservation and a recent Society of 1918 grant recipient, as our keynote speaker. Sapana will present on her work bridging science and community engagement, focusing on how her grant will help local elementary school students and women reconnect with nature and explore interdisciplinary careers centered around the environment. Her journey is an inspiring testament to the power of curiosity, leadership and community-driven research. Don’t miss this opportunity to learn and explore the incredible contributions of women in STEAM!
Before Sapana’s keynote, attendees will enjoy fellowship, hors d’oeuvres and beverages (both alcoholic and non-alcoholic). Tickets cost $10 ($5 for Young Guarde and current students).
A Q&A with Sapana will follow the talk, after which there will be time to continue to connect with one another and reflect on the insights gained.
We hope to see you there!
This event is sponsored by the Society of 1918.
